Our beloved (and often feared) Shadow Queen comes from the future long after most of the world is destroyed rebuilt, left under the care of powerful flying cyborgs and androids referred to as "Angelbots" then mostly destroyed again.
In the wake of this second destruction, a very technologically evolved dystopian world arises where the wealthy can purchase any sort of body enhancement, neural implant, or longevity device they desire. It is a world where dreams (that allow you to fully experience any fantasy you wish) are designed, bought, and sold.
Psyche Chimere was the brightest and most promising of dream designers and a favorite of all her tutors at Psyche Corporation, but she always wanted bigger challenges and more freedom. Eventually she hacked the program that feeds custom made dreams directly into their client's neural implants. She then slowly begins to take over the minds of some of their most powerful clients, subliminally, in order to get herself put into power as the CEO of Psyche Corporation. This has ever since referred to as simply "The Crime", because it was considered the most invasive breach of trust imaginable in that it made all humans on earth subject to her will without even realizing they were being controlled.
Through this method the dream designers become the real rulers and decision makers with all local governments as their pawns. Because they rule from behind the scenes and do not openly admit, at least not at first, to being in charge, they are referred to as The Shadow Court. In this way Psyche Chimere becomes the first Shadow Queen, ruler of the world.
Thus begins the reign of the Shadow Court, made up of the executive board of Psyche Corporation, which lasts for centuries, led by various CEOs known as Shadow Kings and Queens. When this betrayal of the trust of their clients, (pretty much the entire planet at this point as Psyche Corporation had now bought out all competition), became public, The board not only removed her from office as their leader, but had her tried and sentenced to death. Some rumors still abound; however, that she had installed in herself a new high speed wireless router and may have actually found a way to download her entire store of knowledge and consciousness, not to mention ambition, into the world wide web.
Cyberspace connections, were naturally, pretty much everywhere, so there may actually be some truth to this rumor. Others speculate that the loss of all she had worked for explained her sudden inexplicable case of narcolepsy and/or catatonia (reports vary) prior to her execution. Centuries after the first "Shadow Queen", Psyche Chimere, a new Shadow Queen arose who is so feared by all the rest of the Shadow Court that the executive board plotted to overthrow her.
Still, there have been many comparisons, at times, between our new Shadow Queen (also named Psyche Chimere) and the original Shadow Queen, which seems to come out whenever any real threat arises. Perhaps our Current Shadow Queen, has found some trace of the original Shadow Queen out there in cyberspace, and made it a part of her today. Some say she does seem to emulate the steely strength and resolve of the old queen at times, and has been given to shifts of mood from a dark side to a much lighter tone and demeanor on short notice that cause some such speculation. This has actually led to speculation that she adopted the name of the former Shadow Queen when she attempted to absorb her encoded memories and knowlege to strengthen herself, yet became overwhelmed and "possessed" by this "cyberghost" of the former queen.
What is known for certain about our current beloved (and often feared) Shadow Queen, Psyche Chimere, is that she has vastly superior processing capacity, wireless interface capacity with all computer systems (and all synthetic life forms), and built in weapons that are highly classified. She also tends to switch back and forth from an incredibly dark, powerful, and utterly self confident, superhuman succubus like songbird and a much more quiet, shy, and sweet natured form. Much speculation occurs, but needless to say, not within a few thousand meters of her location due to her extraordinary cyborg enhanced hearing.
She also has the ability to regenerate, repair, or even totally reassemble from the molecular level as needed, and still retain full memory from prior to the destruction event. This super advanced technology and bio-engineering makes it essentially impossible to kill her, or at least stop her from simply reassembling herself afterwards, so they were forced to find a way to send her back in time and strand her in a time and place where the technology is too backward to build a time machine to return. Of course, that's where the Steampunk Inventors of the Victorian Era and the "Geek Culture" from this current age sometimes come into play.
